“When the team at Showcase Home - Showcase Interiors (showcase-interiors.co.uk) asked us to get involved with the refurbishment of their new London showroom, we jumped at the chance to get involved.” Said Andrew Boydell, Owner and Managing Director of Forum Lighting.
“That was when the professional fun started!”
“We were refurbing their grade two listed space at the iconic Smithfield market, designed by Victorian architect Sir Horace Jones in the 19th century, on a site that dates back to the 10th century, it is simply the dominant architectural feature of the area.” He added. “It was particularly challenging for our lighting design team to fundamentally balance the property’s time-honoured, hallowed corridors and rooms with an elegant and contemporary solution.”
Working closely with the Showcase team we developed a modern yet traditional space that worked with the exposed roof trusses and bare services.
Highlights include:
Ø In the bell tower, which is now the client sample collaboration space, we designed a multi-purpose 3.6 metre diameter ring of light consisting of a mix of magnetic linear sections and high output spotlights – the finish of antique brass complemented the space perfectly
Ø In reception we designed, and purpose built a multi-ring suspended pendant which was complemented by a selection of free-standing lamps
Ø In feature areas such as the stand-up meeting tables and in the entertainment areas we supplied statement Prandina Lighting Stories blown glass pendants
Ø Over the five shaped sofas we designed and bespoke produced curved pendants to marry the profiles of the furniture
Ø All the meeting rooms are lit with beautiful, subtle glass pendants from our brand partners Slide, Martinelli, and Prandina which again really compliment the look and feel of the space.
“Throughout the open plan and working spaces the lighting not only illuminated the working space but highlighted the exposed rafters that really gave the space depth.” Said Andrew.
