One of our most exciting recent projects was for Hackstons, a premium whisky ownership business based in the heart of Knightsbridge. Hackstons’ new flagship store is a stunning 3,000 square-foot retail space that spans both a ground floor and basement, offering customers the unique opportunity to own exclusive whisky and spirits.
The Brief
When Hackstons approached Forum Lighting, they had a clear vision: they wanted to create a luxurious, immersive environment that showcased their rare and exclusive whisky collection in the best possible light. The retail space needed to provide a sophisticated, high-end experience for their customers, with the main areas including whisky display fronts, whisky sampling rooms, and a tasting library. Forum Lighting was tasked with designing a lighting scheme that would bring out the beauty of each carefully curated piece, while providing optimal illumination for the entire open-plan space.
Facing quick timelines, the project required a quick turnaround while maintaining the high standards expected of such an exclusive brand. The result? A truly bespoke lighting solution.

Forum Lighting worked in close collaboration with EC1 Build to ensure our lighting perfectly complemented the bespoke design elements throughout the store. Some of the key features we implemented included:
- High-End Display Fronts: We designed and installed bespoke lighting to showcase the premium whisky and spirits in the display areas. Every bottle and decorative piece was highlighted with precision, using advanced technical lighting to ensure the products were presented at their finest.
- Whisky Sampling Rooms: For the sampling rooms, we created a more intimate and ambient atmosphere. Soft, warm lighting was chosen to enhance the overall sensory experience of the customers as they tasted the whiskies. This approach ensured that the environment felt welcoming and exclusive, providing the perfect backdrop for personal interactions.
- Tasting Library: The tasting library is a key feature of the Hackstons store, offering an elegant and educational space for whisky enthusiasts. Our lighting scheme here was focused on creating a refined atmosphere, allowing the whisky’s rich colors and textures to shine, while providing subtle illumination to create a serene, inviting space for learning.
- State-of-the-Art Control System: To complete the project, we installed an advanced lighting control system that was fully commissioned within our service offering. This allows the Hackstons team to adjust the lighting throughout the store easily, whether they are highlighting specific products or changing the mood of the space for different events.

The final result is a truly exceptional space. The lighting creates a luxurious, welcoming environment for customers to explore the world of premium whisky and spirits, while supporting the store’s modern, high-end aesthetic.
